Raku pottery firing events in Boulder. Experience the dramatic, unpredictable beauty of raku ceramics.
Raku firing is one of the most exciting and dramatic forms of pottery firing. Pots are removed from the kiln while still glowing hot and placed into combustible materials, creating unpredictable metallic lusters, crackled surfaces, and smoky carbon patterns.
At Boulder Pottery Studio, we will host seasonal raku firing events where you can glaze and fire your own raku pieces. It's a communal, outdoor experience — watching pots come out of the kiln glowing orange and seeing the surfaces transform in real time is unforgettable.
At Boulder Pottery Studio, we will teach raku firing as part of our pottery curriculum. Whether you're exploring this technique for the first time or deepening an existing practice, our instructors will guide you through the fundamentals and help you develop your skills.
All materials will be included in our class fees: clay, glazes, kiln firing, and tools. Our studio is planned around both gas and electric kilns, so you can choose the firing that suits the work.
