A favorite mug slips out of the dish rack and that is usually the end of it. It does not have to be. At Boulder Pottery Studio we will offer repair of broken ceramics, from a clean two-piece break to a handle that has come away or a rim with a chip out of it.
When we open, you will be able to bring in the piece and every fragment you still have, even the small ones, and we will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired, what the result will realistically look like, and what it will cost before any work starts. Some breaks come back nearly invisible. Others are better served by kintsugi, where the repair becomes the point rather than something to hide.
We do not repair pieces that need to stay food-safe or watertight, because no adhesive repair should be trusted with either. Decorative pieces, heirlooms, and sentimental objects are what this is for.
At Boulder Pottery Studio, we will teach pottery repair in boulder as part of our pottery curriculum. Whether you're exploring this technique for the first time or deepening an existing practice, our instructors will guide you through the fundamentals and help you develop your skills.
All materials will be included in our class fees: clay, glazes, kiln firing, and tools. Our studio is planned around both gas and electric kilns, so you can choose the firing that suits the work.
